Responsibilities
- Receive and Process Calls: Answer emergency and non-emergency calls from the public, assess the situation, and prioritize response based on urgency and safety protocols.
- Dispatch Operations: Utilize advanced radio and computer systems to efficiently dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to the scene of incidents.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, detailed logs and reports of all dispatch activities, calls, and unit status for legal and operational purposes.
- Communication Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for field units, providing real-time information and coordination during active incidents.
- Training Support: Assist senior dispatchers in training new personnel and participate in ongoing professional development to maintain high standards of service.
- Resource Management: Monitor department resources and status to ensure optimal allocation of personnel and equipment during critical incidents.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; post-secondary education in Criminal Justice or Communications is preferred.
- Age & Citizenship: Must be at least 18 years of age and a U.S. Citizen.
- Driver's License: Valid Arizona Driver's License is required.
- Communication: Superior verbal and written communication skills with the ability to remain calm under stress and convey complex information clearly.
- Technical Proficiency: Ability to learn and operate complex radio and computer systems quickly and accurately.
- Availability: Willingness to work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and night shifts as required by the 24-hour operations of the department.
