Responsibilities
- Answer and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems
- Provide clear instructions to callers during critical incidents (medical, fire, police)
- Dispatch appropriate emergency units based on protocol and situational assessment
- Maintain accurate call logs and incident documentation in compliance with regulations
- Monitor radio communications and coordinate multi-agency responses during emergencies
- Operate multiple communication systems simultaneously under high-stress conditions
- Participate in ongoing training programs to enhance dispatching proficiency
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Ability to type 40+ WPM with 95% accuracy
- Valid California Driver's License
- Pass background check and polygraph examination
- Ability to remain calm during high-pressure emergency situations
- Proficient in computer systems and multi-tasking capabilities
- Clear communication skills in English (bilingual Spanish preferred)
- No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history
