Responsibilities
- Receive and process incoming emergency (911) and non-emergency calls from the public with speed and accuracy.
- Dispatch police, fire, and emergency medical services units to incidents based on location and nature of the call.
- Monitor radio frequencies and maintain constant situational awareness of active incidents.
- Enter and update incident data into the CAD system to maintain accurate records and logs.
- Provide timely information, instructions, and resources to responding officers and citizens.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of new dispatch personnel.
- Maintain professional composure and technical proficiency during high-stress situations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- U.S. Citizenship and a valid Texas driver's license are mandatory.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong typing skills (minimum 35 WPM) and proficiency with computer applications.
- Successful completion of a background investigation and drug screening.
