Responsibilities
- Receive and Process Calls: Answer incoming emergency and non-emergency calls with empathy and accuracy, assessing the situation and prioritizing resources.
- Dispatch Units: Send appropriate police, fire, and EMS units to the scene, providing accurate location and situation details.
- Monitor Communications: Maintain a constant watch on radio frequencies and CCTV systems to detect incidents and coordinate responses.
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed, accurate logs of all calls, dispatches, and incidents in the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- Information Relay: Provide vital information to callers, including instructions for self-protection and the location of responders.
- Community Support: Assist citizens with non-emergency inquiries and direct them to the appropriate resources.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Driver’s License: Valid Arizona Class D Driver’s License is mandatory.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly and concisely over radio and phone.
- Stress Management: Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress, high-volume environments.
- Computer Proficiency: Basic computer skills and typing ability (speed and accuracy are a plus).
- Background Check: Must successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation, including a polygraph and drug screen.
