Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatch appropriate units, and maintain accurate call logs
- Operate radio systems, computer-aided dispatch (CAD), and emergency notification equipment
- Provide critical information to first responders during high-pressure situations
- Maintain precise records of all communications and incident details
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during emergencies and disasters
- Undergo rigorous training on department policies, procedures, and equipment operation
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid Texas driver's license
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check and polygraph examination
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with high accuracy
- Fluency in English (bilingual Spanish preferred)
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies
- No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history
