Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls using CAD systems
- Dispatch police units, fire, and EMS resources efficiently
- Maintain accurate call logs and incident documentation
- Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders (public, officers, agencies)
- Operate radio equipment and specialized communication technology
- Adhere to NIMS protocols and departmental procedures
- Participate in ongoing training for certification maintenance
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Ability to type 40+ WPM (verified by assessment)
- U.S. citizenship and valid Virginia driver's license
- Clear background check and drug screening
- Exceptional multitasking and stress management skills
- Basic computer proficiency (Windows OS, MS Office)
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights/weekends
- Virginia residency within 90 days of hire
