Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls from the public via telephone and radio.
- Dispatch police, fire, and medical units to emergency scenes in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all calls, unit responses, and incidents in the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- Provide critical information and instructions to field personnel and citizens during incidents.
- Maintain situational awareness and monitor police activity for potential threats or service calls.
- Stay calm and professional under extreme pressure and high-stress situations.
- Perform routine equipment checks and system maintenance.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid North Carolina Driver's License.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task effectively while listening to radio traffic and typing information.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- No prior law enforcement or dispatch experience required (Training provided).
