Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls via 911 and landlines with speed, accuracy, and empathy.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems efficiently.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of all calls, incidents, and unit activity in the department database.
- Provide critical, real-time information to responding officers and coordinate resources during active incidents.
- Monitor radio frequencies for officer safety, unit status, and traffic conditions.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of new dispatch personnel during the trainee phase.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive incident information and personal data.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and a U.S. Citizen.
- Valid Nevada Class C Driver’s License with a good driving record.
- Excellent typing skills (minimum 35-40 WPM) and proficiency with computer systems.
- Ability to remain calm and focused under high-stress, rapidly changing situations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
