Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via 911 and administrative lines
- Dispatch police units using CAD/RMS systems during critical incidents
- Provide pre-arrival medical instructions to callers
- Maintain accurate radio logs and incident documentation
- Coordinate with other agencies (fire, EMS, etc.) during multi-jurisdictional responses
- Operate multiple communication systems simultaneously
- Remain calm under extreme pressure during life-threatening situations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid California Driver's License
- Pass background investigation and polygraph examination
- Typing minimum 40 WPM (verified through pre-employment test)
- Ability to speak clearly and understand diverse dialects
- Must be 18+ years old (21+ preferred for shift work)
- No felony convictions or domestic violence restraining orders
- US citizenship or permanent resident status
