Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls from the public via radio and telephone systems.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to the scene of incidents with accuracy and speed.
- Enter and update incident reports and dispatch logs into the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system in real-time.
- Maintain constant situational awareness during high-stress situations to ensure officer safety.
- Communicate effectively with field personnel, supervisors, and other agencies to coordinate resources.
- Provide critical information and instructions to callers during emergency situations until help arrives.
- Participate in ongoing training programs to enhance communication skills and technical proficiency.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate’s degree or military service preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and a resident of the State of New Mexico.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly under pressure.
- Proficiency in using computers, keyboards, and various software applications (training provided).
- Valid New Mexico Class C Driver’s License with a good driving record.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm in critical situations.
