Job Summary

Responsibilities
- Receive, screen, and process emergency (911) and non-emergency calls for service.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical personnel to incident locations in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date incident logs and records.
- Provide critical information to field units and citizens during active incidents.
- Monitor and update the status of all emergency units in the jurisdiction.
- Operate radio consoles and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Assist in the training of new dispatch personnel once certified.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Alaska driverβs license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, polygraph, and medical/psychological evaluation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly under pressure.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress emergency situations.
- Availability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
