As a Dispatcher Trainee, you will undergo rigorous training to become a certified 911 Operator. Responsibilities
- Receive and Process Calls: Answer emergency and non-emergency calls promptly, gathering critical information to determine the nature and location of the incident.
- Unit Dispatching: Utilize Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems to assign law enforcement, fire, and medical resources to the scene efficiently.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed logs of all incoming calls, dispatch actions, and unit status for legal and administrative purposes.
- Emergency Coordination: Coordinate with multiple agencies, including fire and EMS, to ensure seamless response during multi-casualty or critical incidents.
- Radio Communication: Monitor police radio frequencies to receive status updates and relay instructions to field officers in real-time.
- Training Support: Assist senior dispatchers in training new recruits and participate in ongoing professional development exercises.
- Public Assistance: Provide general information and directions to the public, ensuring a positive image of the police department.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Driver’s License: Valid Arizona Class D Driver’s License with a good driving record.
- Typing Skills: Proficient typing speed (minimum 35-40 WPM) and data entry accuracy.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely over the radio.
- Stress Management: Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress, high-volume environments.
- Technical Proficiency: Comfortable learning and operating complex computer systems and software.
- Background Check: Must pass a comprehensive background investigation, including fingerprinting and polygraph.
