As a Dispatcher Trainee, you will undergo comprehensive on-the-job training to become a certified Emergency Communications Operator. You will play a critical role in emergency response, ensuring that police, fire, and medical services are dispatched efficiently and safely. Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls from the public via telephone and radio.
- Dispatch police, fire, and EMS units to locations based on information received.
- Maintain accurate logs of all calls, dispatches, and unit status.
- Provide vital information to responding units and assist in coordinating multi-agency responses.
- Monitor computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems and radio frequencies for updates.
- Exercise sound judgment and critical thinking in high-stress situations.
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate records in accordance with departmental policies.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to type at least 35-40 words per minute.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm in emergency situations.
