Responsibilities
- Receive, screen, and process emergency (911) and non-emergency calls from the public.
- Dispatch law enforcement officers, fire units, and paramedics to appropriate scenes using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Maintain continuous radio contact with field units to provide status updates and information.
- Enter and update incident reports, citations, and records accurately and in a timely manner.
- Provide information and assistance to citizens regarding police services, traffic stops, and non-emergency matters.
- Monitor security cameras and other surveillance equipment for suspicious activities.
- Assist in the training of new dispatch personnel during the trainee program.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License with a good driving record.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, polygraph test, and medical/psychological evaluation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly and concisely.
- Proficient typing skills (minimum 30-40 WPM preferred).
- Ability to remain calm and make quick, accurate decisions under stressful conditions.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
