Responsibilities

  • Receive, screen, and process emergency (911) and non-emergency calls from the public.
  • Dispatch law enforcement officers, fire units, and paramedics to appropriate scenes using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
  • Maintain continuous radio contact with field units to provide status updates and information.
  • Enter and update incident reports, citations, and records accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Provide information and assistance to citizens regarding police services, traffic stops, and non-emergency matters.
  • Monitor security cameras and other surveillance equipment for suspicious activities.
  • Assist in the training of new dispatch personnel during the trainee program.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License with a good driving record.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, polygraph test, and medical/psychological evaluation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly and concisely.
  • Proficient typing skills (minimum 30-40 WPM preferred).
  • Ability to remain calm and make quick, accurate decisions under stressful conditions.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
