Responsibilities
- Receive, screen, and process incoming emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services units to incident locations using two-way radio and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs and records of all communications and dispatch activities.
- Monitor police radio frequencies to identify traffic patterns and officer status.
- Provide information and assistance to the public, callers, and field personnel in a professional and courteous manner.
- Coordinate with other agencies during multi-agency incidents.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age and a U.S. citizen.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- No felony convictions or serious misdemeanors (background check required).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly and concisely under stress.
- Demonstrated typing proficiency (minimum 35-40 WPM preferred).
- Proficiency with computers and data entry systems.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
