Responsibilities

  • Receive and Process Calls: Answer incoming emergency (911) and non-emergency lines with empathy and efficiency.
  • Dispatch Services: Coordinate the deployment of police, fire, and emergency medical services to the correct locations in real-time.
  • Maintain Logs: Accurately document all calls, radio traffic, and incidents in the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
  • Resource Management: Monitor unit availability and status to ensure optimal response times.
  • Community Assistance: Provide information and direction to the public and assist other agencies when necessary.
  • Training Support: Assist senior dispatchers during the training phase to master emergency protocols and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Licensure: Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License required at time of appointment.
  • Skills: Ability to type at least 35 words per minute accurately.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly in high-stress situations.
  • Stress Management: Must remain calm, composed, and make quick, sound decisions under pressure.
  • Background: No felony convictions; background check required.
