Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize incoming emergency (911) and non-emergency calls from the public.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to incidents using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Maintain constant vigilance on multiple radio frequencies and telephone lines simultaneously.
- Enter accurate and timely data regarding incidents, units dispatched, and status updates into departmental databases.
- Provide critical information to responding officers to ensure officer safety and operational efficiency.
- Monitor weather alerts, traffic conditions, and local events to anticipate and prepare for emergencies.
- Perform clerical duties, including report preparation and maintaining accurate records of dispatch activities.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and a U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick, accurate decisions under extreme pressure.
- Basic computer literacy and typing proficiency (minimum 35 words per minute preferred).
