As a Dispatcher Trainee, you will be the voice and lifeline for the community. You will be trained to monitor communications, dispatch emergency units, and provide critical information to first responders. This role requires focus, accuracy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls for service from the public via telephone and radio.
- Monitor and dispatch police, fire, and medical units utilizing Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of calls, incidents, and unit status logs.
- Provide vital information to responding officers to ensure a safe and effective emergency response.
- Coordinate inter-agency communications during major incidents or events.
- Perform routine checks of radio equipment and communication systems to ensure readiness.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid New Jersey driverβs license with a clean driving record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and remain composed in high-stress, fast-paced situations.
- Proficiency with computers and typing is highly preferred.
- Willingness to complete paid on-the-job training.
