Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via 911 and administrative lines
- Dispatch police units using CAD/RMS systems with precision and urgency
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and incidents
- Coordinate with multiple agencies (EMS, Fire, FBI) during critical incidents
- Provide pre-arrival medical instructions to callers when needed
- Operate radio systems and specialized emergency equipment
- Undergo rigorous 12-week academy training program
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- U.S. citizenship and valid Texas driver's license
- Pass background check, drug screen, and psychological evaluation
- Ability to type 40+ WPM (typing assessment required)
- Fluent English proficiency with clear communication skills
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights/weekends
- Basic computer literacy and ability to learn complex systems
- Strong emotional control during high-stress situations
