Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency (911) and non-emergency calls for service.
- Dispatch police, fire, and EMS units to locations using two-way radio and mobile data terminals.
- Enter and update incident reports, status information, and warrants into the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- Maintain constant communication with field officers, traffic units, and other agencies.
- Provide accurate information and assistance to the public during non-emergency situations.
- Monitor surveillance equipment, security alerts, and automated street sensors.
- Assist in the maintenance of station equipment and training materials.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required.
- Valid New York State driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to type at least 35-40 words per minute.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm, think clearly, and make quick decisions under pressure.
- Must be willing to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
