Responsibilities
- Receive, screen, and process incoming emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
- Dispatch appropriate police, fire, and emergency medical service units to incidents.
- Monitor and operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems and radio communications equipment.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all dispatch activities and field units.
- Provide critical information to field personnel and the public during active incidents.
- Perform clerical duties such as report preparation and data entry.
- Respond to inquiries from citizens and other agencies with a high level of professionalism.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid North Carolina driver's license required.
- Excellent hearing and ability to speak clearly over radio communication.
- Strong computer literacy and typing skills.
- Ability to multi-task effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history.
