Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency calls with exceptional situational awareness and empathy
- Dispatch police, fire, and medical units using CAD/RMS systems with precision and speed
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and incidents for legal compliance
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during critical incidents and natural disasters
- Provide critical pre-arrival medical instructions via emergency telecommunication protocols
- Operate radio equipment and specialized public safety communication systems
- Remain calm and professional during high-pressure situations requiring rapid decision-making
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in criminal justice preferred
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 95% accuracy
- Valid Washington State driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check and polygraph examination
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn specialized dispatch software
- Exceptional active listening and de-escalation communication skills
- Ability to multitask efficiently in fast-paced, high-stress environments
