Our 12-week paid training program covers radio protocols, emergency medical dispatch (EMD), crisis intervention, and multi-agency coordination. Upon successful completion, you'll transition to a full-time dispatcher role with opportunities for specialization and leadership.
Responsibilities
- Process 911 calls and prioritize emergency incidents with speed and accuracy
- Coordinate resources between police, fire, and EMS units during critical situations
- Maintain detailed logs and documentation using CAD/RMS systems
- Provide life-saving instructions via emergency medical dispatch protocols
- Operate multi-channel radio systems and specialized communication equipment
- Remain calm under extreme pressure while managing high-call-volume scenarios
- Collaborate with officers and external agencies during ongoing incidents
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred)
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 95% accuracy
- Valid Michigan driver's license with clean record
- Ability to pass extensive background check and polygraph examination
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and adaptive learning technologies
- Clear speaking voice and exceptional communication skills
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- US citizenship or permanent residency status required
