Responsibilities
- Receive, prioritize, and process emergency and non-emergency calls via radio, telephone, and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services units to incident scenes with precision and speed.
- Maintain accurate, real-time logs and records of all dispatch activity, unit locations, and incident details.
- Monitor surveillance equipment and CCTV feeds to provide visual intelligence to field units.
- Communicate effectively with officers, supervisors, and other agencies during active incidents.
- Assist in the training and mentorship of incoming dispatch staff to maintain departmental standards.
- Perform administrative duties, including data entry and report preparation, with high attention to detail.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field is preferred.
- Valid New Jersey Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly over radio frequencies.
- Strong typing skills (minimum 35-40 wpm) and computer proficiency.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
- Must be available to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Candidate must pass a thorough background investigation, drug screening, and medical examination.
