Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via 911 and non-emergency lines
- Dispatch police units using CAD systems while maintaining radio communications
- Enter and update information in law enforcement databases accurately
- Provide crisis intervention and calming instructions to callers in distress
- Coordinate with other emergency services (fire, EMS) during multi-agency incidents
- Maintain detailed call logs and documentation per department protocols
- Participate in continuous training programs to enhance dispatcher skills
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 90% accuracy
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check and polygraph examination
- Valid Ohio driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Proficiency in computer systems and multitasking abilities
- Excellent communication skills and emotional resilience under pressure
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain required security clearance
- No felony convictions and clean drug screening history
