Responsibilities
- Receive and process incoming emergency (911) and non-emergency calls with high accuracy and urgency.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to incident locations using the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- Maintain precise and up-to-date records of all calls, incidents, and resource status.
- Monitor radio frequencies and CCTV feeds to provide real-time situational awareness to field units.
- Communicate effectively with diverse populations, including victims, witnesses, and officers, during high-stress situations.
- Escalate critical incidents to supervisors or specialized units as required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; completion of a dispatch academy or post-secondary education in criminal justice is a plus.
- Must possess a valid, unrestricted driver's license.
- Excellent typing skills (minimum 35-40 wpm) and proficiency with computer systems.
- Ability to remain calm, composed, and focused under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Must be available to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
