Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via 911 and administrative lines
- Dispatch police, fire, and EMS units with precise location and incident details
- Maintain accurate logs of all communications using CAD/RMS systems
- Provide clear, calm instructions to callers during critical incidents
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during large-scale emergencies
- Operate radio equipment and communication technology per protocols
- Update incident databases and maintain confidential records
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid NJ driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with high accuracy
- Exceptional verbal communication and listening skills
- Ability to remain calm under high-pressure situations
- Basic computer proficiency with willingness to learn specialized software
- No felony convictions; misdemeanor cases evaluated individually
