As a Police Dispatcher Trainee, you will undergo comprehensive training to master the complexities of our Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and emergency communication protocols. Responsibilities
- Receive and process incoming emergency and non-emergency calls via radio and telephone systems.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and EMS units to incident scenes with precision and speed.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all dispatches, incidents, and unit status.
- Provide critical instructions and support to callers in distress, including medical dispatching (Medical Priority Dispatch System).
- Monitor radio frequencies and maintain constant situational awareness of all active units in the field.
- Enter and update information into the CAD system and related databases.
- Communicate effectively with other local, state, and regional public safety agencies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid Ohio driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to type a minimum of 35-40 words per minute.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly and concisely.
- Ability to remain calm, focused, and composed under extreme pressure.
- Proficiency with computers and ability to learn complex software systems quickly.
