Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via 911 and administrative lines
- Dispatch police units using CAD/RMS systems with precision and urgency
- Maintain accurate radio communication with field units during critical incidents
- Enter/update confidential case data in law enforcement databases
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during major emergencies
- Provide critical life-saving instructions to callers in crisis
- Operate specialized communication equipment under pressure
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid Ohio driver's license at time of appointment
- U.S. citizenship and Ohio residency required
- Pass extensive background check, polygraph, and drug screening
- Ability to type 40+ WPM with 95% accuracy
- Must achieve passing score on dispatcher aptitude test
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights/holidays
- No felony convictions or domestic violence charges
