Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive communications strategies for county departments and initiatives
- Write and edit press releases, speeches, newsletters, and digital content
- Manage media relations including pitching stories, coordinating interviews, and tracking coverage
- Oversee social media channels to engage residents and disseminate critical information
- Coordinate public events and manage stakeholder relationships with community leaders
- Analyze communications metrics and optimize strategies for maximum impact
- Serve as crisis communications lead during emergency situations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive experience in government/public sector communications
- Proven track record in developing multi-channel communication campaigns
- Expertise in crisis communication protocols and public messaging
- Strong writing and editing skills with portfolio samples required
- Proficiency with CMS platforms, social media analytics, and graphic design tools
- Valid Florida driver's license and ability to work occasional evenings/weekends
