Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and complaint-driven inspections of food establishments, swimming pools, and public facilities
- Investigate public health complaints and potential disease outbreaks
- Enforce health codes and regulations with thorough documentation
- Provide technical guidance and education to business operators
- Collect and analyze samples for laboratory testing
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate records
- Collaborate with cross-agency teams during emergency responses
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Biology, or related field
- Valid California Environmental Health Specialist Registration (REHS)
- Minimum 2 years of field inspection experience
- Strong knowledge of California Health & Safety Codes
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work independently in diverse environments
- Valid California driver's license with clean record
- Spanish bilingual proficiency preferred
