Responsibilities
- Dispatch police, fire, and EMS units via radio and computer-aided systems
- Process 911 calls with calm precision under pressure
- Maintain accurate incident logs and digital records
- Operate multi-channel communication equipment during emergencies
- Coordinate with federal/state agencies during large-scale incidents
- Train new dispatchers on protocols and system operations
- Ensure compliance with FCC regulations and NIMS standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred
- Minimum 1 year emergency dispatch or public safety experience
- Texas TCOLE certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with 95% accuracy
- Valid Texas driver's license
- Pass background check and psychological evaluation
- Proficiency in CAD/RMS systems
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) certification required
