Job Description
Join Oklahoma City's Public Works Department as a dedicated Public Works Inspector. This critical role ensures compliance with city ordinances, state regulations, and federal standards for infrastructure projects across our vibrant community. You'll be instrumental in maintaining the safety, quality, and sustainability of Oklahoma City's public assets while serving our citizens with integrity and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of construction and maintenance projects to verify compliance with plans and specifications
- Review engineering drawings, permit applications, and project documentation for accuracy
- Investigate citizen complaints regarding infrastructure issues and coordinate corrective actions
- Maintain detailed inspection reports and project documentation using municipal systems
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and city departments to resolve technical issues
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, environmental standards, and accessibility requirements
- Prepare violation notices and enforcement recommendations as needed
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of construction inspection or municipal infrastructure experience
- Oklahoma Inspector Certification (OSHA 30-hour certification preferred)
- Proficiency in CAD software and municipal record-keeping systems
- Valid Oklahoma driver's license with clean driving record
- Strong knowledge of local building codes and ADA standards
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder interactions
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and traverse construction sites
