Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections of construction projects to verify compliance with engineering plans and county regulations
- Document findings through detailed reports, photographs, and digital records
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and city officials to resolve compliance issues
- Review permit applications and provide technical guidance to development teams
- Investigate citizen complaints related to construction standards and zoning
- Maintain inspection databases and generate compliance status reports
- Participate in training programs to stay current with building codes and inspection protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with 3+ years construction inspection experience
- Florida Building Inspector Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Valid Florida Driver's License with clean driving record
- Proficiency in inspection software (e.g., FieldPav, Cityworks)
- Strong knowledge of ICC codes and Florida Building Regulations
- Excellent written communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work in outdoor environments with variable weather conditions
- Preferred: Associate's degree in Construction Technology or related field
