Responsibilities
- Inspect construction sites for compliance with federal/state/local regulations and blueprints
- Review permit applications and issue approvals/denials with detailed documentation
- Conduct field investigations for code violations and recommend corrective actions
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and city departments on project timelines
- Prepare comprehensive inspection reports and maintain accurate digital records
- Testify in legal proceedings regarding code enforcement decisions
- Mentor junior inspectors and update departmental protocols
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of construction inspection experience with municipal projects
- Valid California Inspector Certification (ICBO/ICC)
- Proficiency with CAD software and inspection management systems
- Strong knowledge of California Building Codes and ADA requirements
- Excellent written/verbal communication and conflict resolution skills
- Valid California driver's license with clean record
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and climb construction scaffolding
