Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of public works projects, including roads, drainage systems, and sidewalks, ensuring compliance with approved plans and specifications.
- Monitor construction sites to verify that work is performed safely and in accordance with established safety regulations and OSHA standards.
- Review and interpret blueprints, maps, and technical drawings to ensure accuracy during the construction phase.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, developers, and the public to address concerns, answer questions, and provide technical guidance.
- Document inspection findings, prepare detailed reports, and recommend necessary corrections or rework to project managers.
- Enforce city ordinances and zoning regulations during the development process.
- Maintain accurate records of inspection activities and project timelines.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associateās degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is highly preferred.
- Valid California Class C Driverās License and a clean driving record.
- Experience in construction inspection, civil engineering, or a related municipal field is a significant plus.
- Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and common building codes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
- Physical ability to perform site visits, including walking on uneven terrain, standing for extended periods, and lifting moderate loads.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
