Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections of public works projects (roads, bridges, utilities) to ensure compliance with city codes and engineering standards
- Document inspection findings using digital reporting tools and maintain accurate project documentation
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and city departments to resolve compliance issues
- Review construction plans and specifications prior to project commencement
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and recommend corrective actions
- Participate in project meetings and provide technical expertise
- Ensure safety protocols are followed at all project sites
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 2 years of construction inspection or field engineering experience
- Valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License
- ICBO or ICC certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Proficiency with inspection software (e.g., FieldManager, Bluebeam)
- Strong knowledge of Minnesota State Building Codes and municipal regulations
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to perform physical tasks in various weather conditions
