Responsibilities
- Perform heavy manual labor including excavation, grading, and material handling for public infrastructure projects
- Operate and maintain construction equipment (e.g., jackhammers, saws, compactors) following strict safety protocols
- Install and repair public utilities including water lines, storm drains, and traffic control systems
- Assist in asphalt paving, concrete work, and sidewalk maintenance projects
- Conduct routine inspections of public works sites and report hazards or maintenance needs
- Maintain clean and organized job sites, including proper waste disposal and recycling
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred
- Minimum 1 year experience in construction, landscaping, or public works
- Valid Missouri driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
- Basic knowledge of hand/power tools and construction materials
- Strong work ethic with punctual, dependable attendance record
- Ability to follow verbal/written instructions and work both independently and in team settings
