Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks including road maintenance, park upkeep, and facility repairs
- Operate heavy machinery (e.g., dump trucks, graders) with proper safety protocols
- Respond to emergency weather events (snow, floods) for critical infrastructure support
- Assist in construction projects and public space beautification initiatives
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and maintenance checks
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams for coordinated service delivery
- Adhere to all OSHA and municipal safety regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid North Carolina driver's license with clean record
- Minimum 1 year experience in public works, construction, or related field
- Certification in equipment operation (CDL preferred)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Strong commitment to public service and community values
- Pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
- Basic knowledge of GIS mapping systems a plus
