Responsibilities
- Perform heavy manual labor including excavation, trenching, and material handling for infrastructure projects
- Operate light machinery (saws, jackhammers, compactors) and hand tools safely and efficiently
- Assist in road maintenance, sidewalk repairs, and storm drain clearing operations
- Conduct routine inspections of public facilities and report maintenance needs
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and municipal work standards
- Support emergency response during weather-related events (snow removal, flood control)
- Maintain accurate records of materials used and work completed
Qualifications
- Valid New Jersey driver's license with clean driving record
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum 1 year experience in construction, landscaping, or similar physical labor role
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly and work in extreme weather conditions
- OSHA 10-hour Construction certification preferred
- Basic knowledge of hand/power tool operation and maintenance
- Pass pre-employment physical and background check
- Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays as needed
