Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor in construction, maintenance, and repair of public infrastructure including streets, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate light equipment (e.g., jackhammers, saws, pressure washers) under supervisor guidance
- Assist in traffic control and safety protocol implementation for work zones
- Load/unload materials and maintain clean, organized job sites
- Participate in emergency response for weather-related public works events
- Complete daily equipment inspection and maintenance reports
- Adhere to OSHA and Cal/OSHA safety regulations at all times
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid California driver's license with clean record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly and work in extreme weather conditions
- Experience with construction tools and basic equipment operation preferred
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification a plus
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Strong teamwork skills and commitment to public service values
- Flexibility to work weekends and overtime during project peaks
