Job Overview
As a Public Works Laborer, you will be on the front lines of city maintenance. You will assist in a variety of projects ranging from road repairs and park maintenance to emergency response during storms. We value reliability, safety, and a strong work ethic in our team members.
Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and repair tasks on city streets, sidewalks, and parks.
- Operate and maintain light to heavy construction and maintenance equipment safely.
- Clear debris, snow, and ice from streets, intersections, and public walkways during adverse weather conditions.
- Assist in traffic control operations, including flagging and setting up cones.
- Inspect and clean storm drains, catch basins, and sewer inlets to prevent flooding.
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment at job sites.
- Follow all safety protocols and OSHA guidelines to ensure a hazard-free work environment.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Driver’s License issued by the State of Florida.
- Ability to pass a post-offer physical examination and background check.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Physical ability to perform heavy manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions.
