Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery (e.g., backhoes, dump trucks) for infrastructure projects
- Perform manual labor including excavation, paving, and street repairs
- Maintain parks, playgrounds, and green spaces across Detroit neighborhoods
- Assist in stormwater management and drainage system maintenance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety protocols and environmental regulations
- Participate in emergency response during severe weather events
- Complete daily equipment inspections and maintenance logs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Michigan Driver's License with clean record
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- Experience with hand/power tools and heavy equipment operation
- Basic knowledge of blueprint reading and construction terminology
- Ability to work flexible shifts including evenings and weekends
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
