Responsibilities
- Maintain Infrastructure: Perform routine maintenance and repair on municipal roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems to ensure safety and accessibility.
- Operate Equipment: Safely and efficiently operate heavy machinery, including dump trucks, front-end loaders, and pavement breakers.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency repair requests, weather-related incidents, and public safety concerns.
- Inspection & Compliance: Conduct regular inspections of public facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with city safety regulations and standards.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory of tools, equipment, and materials, submitting orders as necessary.
- Community Engagement: Interact professionally with the public, vendors, and fellow city employees to resolve service issues and improve workflows.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; Vocational training in public works or related field is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in public works, construction, or general maintenance.
- Licensure: Valid Class C Georgia Driverβs License with a clean driving record.
- Skills: Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics; proficiency in operating heavy equipment.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions.
- Safety: Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and protocols is required.
