Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on municipal facilities including parks, sidewalks, and public buildings
- Operate heavy equipment and machinery safely following OSHA standards
- Respond to emergency repairs during inclement weather or public safety incidents
- Conduct regular inspections of infrastructure and document maintenance reports
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability practices
- Train junior staff on proper equipment operation and safety protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational certification preferred
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on maintenance experience in public works or construction
- Valid California Class C driver's license with clean driving record
- OSHA 10-hour construction safety certification
- Ability to operate heavy equipment (backhoes, forklifts, etc.)
- Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of blueprints and technical schematics
- Strong problem-solving skills and commitment to public service
