Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on city parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, and greenways
- Operate and maintain landscaping equipment (mowers, trimmers, irrigation systems)
- Conduct preventive maintenance on public facilities and infrastructure
- Respond to service requests for repairs and storm damage recovery
- Assist with special events and community improvement projects
- Follow OSHA safety protocols and maintain equipment records
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams for coordinated maintenance efforts
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid North Carolina driver's license with clean driving record
- Minimum 2 years experience in groundskeeping, construction, or facility maintenance
- Ability to operate power tools and heavy equipment safely
- Basic knowledge of horticulture principles and turf management
- Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in outdoor conditions
- Certification in CPR/First Aid preferred
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
