Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks, and public infrastructure to ensure optimal city operations.
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery, including snow plows, street sweepers, and maintenance trucks in various weather conditions.
- Assist in emergency response operations, including severe weather events, debris removal, and flood control.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify safety hazards and ensure compliance with city regulations and OSHA standards.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels of tools, equipment, and construction materials.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement sustainable infrastructure projects.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Valid New York State Driver’s License (Class B preferred).
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs), standing for extended periods, and working outdoors in all seasons.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulic equipment, or construction practices is highly desirable.
- Ability to pass a background check, drug screening, and medical examination.
- Strong commitment to public service and safety protocols.
