Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks, and public facilities to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
- Operate heavy and light machinery, including dump trucks, backhoes, and pavement breakers, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and public service inquiries during and after business hours.
- Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment to extend equipment life and reduce downtime.
- Clear snow, ice, and debris from roads and parking lots during inclement weather to ensure public safety.
- Assist in the installation and repair of traffic signs, guardrails, and street lighting.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of work performed, materials used, and equipment maintenance schedules.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; vocational training in public works or construction is a plus.
- Valid Class C Arizona Driverβs License with a good driving record.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs), standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Previous experience in public works, landscaping, construction, or general maintenance preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all City of Tucson policies and procedures.
- Willingness to work overtime and rotating shifts as needed.
