Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city streets, sidewalks, and public infrastructure.
- Equipment Operation: Operate heavy machinery and power tools, including dump trucks, snowplows, and jackhammers, safely and efficiently.
- Snow and Ice Removal: Respond to winter weather emergencies by plowing snow and applying de-icing materials to ensure public safety.
- Pavement Markings: Apply traffic paint and pavement markings to maintain clear roadways and crosswalks.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA safety regulations and municipal guidelines while performing field duties.
- Resource Management: Inspect materials and equipment to ensure proper inventory levels and report needed repairs.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Experience: Previous experience in general labor, construction, or public works is highly preferred.
- Driver's License: A valid New York State Class B Driver's License with a clean driving record is mandatory.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical labor including lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of heavy equipment operation is a plus but not always required (training provided).
- Clean Record: Must pass a background check and drug screening.
