Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks, parks, and public buildings to ensure a safe environment for citizens.
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery, including dump trucks, snowplows, street sweepers, and jackhammers.
- Assist in snow and ice removal operations during winter months, following safety protocols and city schedules.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests and work orders from the public or internal departments in a timely manner.
- Inspect public infrastructure for damage or wear and report findings to supervisors for necessary repairs.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with city ordinances, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
- Adhere to proper waste management and recycling procedures when performing trash collection or sanitation duties.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required.
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is strongly preferred; valid State Driver’s License required.
- Previous experience in public works, landscaping, construction, or general maintenance is a plus but not mandatory.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50+ lbs) and perform physically demanding tasks outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to public service and community safety.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
